Barnett's School Improvment Plan for the 2017-2018 School Year include the following goals:

Barnett teachers and staff members will provide quality instruction and interventions for all students in reading. 
Board Goal: Quality Instruction Program, Quality Staff
  • Guided Reading for all students at their level
  • Grade level Curriculum Maps will be developed and "I Can" statements taught to students.
  • Imagine Learning and MyOn for students below grade level in reading
  • Title I and Next Steps for students below grade level in reading, who need 1 on 1 attention
Barnett teachers and staff members will provide quality instruction and interventions for all students in math.
Board Goal: Quality Instructional Program, Quality Staff
  • Exploratory and Direct Math instruction daily
  • Grade level Curriculum Maps will be developed and "I Can" statements taught to students.
  • Re-teach, Enrich, and Extend Math groups based on student levels
  • School-wide focus on acquiring math fact fluency
Barnett teachers and staff members will provide quality instruction in the Fine Arts Core
Board Goal: Quality Instructional Program, Quality Staff 
  • Working with District Fine Arts Specialist for integration services
  • Incorporating fine arts core into specialty classes
  • Before school choir and after school orchestra
To make sure the students have a safe place to learn (physical building) as well as learn important safety practices.
Board Goal: Safe Schools and Positive Environment
  • Monthly safe school drills
  • Students participate in Prevention Dimension and NOVA
  • Safety Inspections of the building and grounds annually
To keep parents and community informed about academic success and involved upcoming events.
Board Goal: Communication and Community Involvement
  • Producing monthly newsletters
  • Utilizing Parentlink to call, text, email, and remind of upcoming events
  • School choir, orchestra, and grade level performances for parents and community
To provide new teachers with information and training that will help them be successful.
Board Goal: Quality Staff
  • Mentor teacher provided for teachers with less than 3 years experience
  • Teacher evaluations done annually
  • Utilizing Collaboration on Monday afternoons
  • Spending District Development Early Out Days for professional development
In an effort to accentuate the positive choices made by faculty and students we will seek to regularly recognize good choices made by both groups at Barnett Elementary. This will hopefully help students and faculty want to make good choices.

  • Teacher Appreciation Week
  • Bulldog Pride Assemblies
