Barnett Back To School Open House

Submitted by kali.brown on Thu, 07/30/2020 - 15:37

We are so excited to welcome students back at our Back To School Open House on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 from 2:00pm-6:00pm.

Please plan to come during your assigned time.  Our below schedule (by last name) is designed to keep everyone safe AND to practice social distancing.  If this time is not possible, please contact your child's teacher for instructions.

Face Coverings Required.  To ensure safety, please try to send one (1) member per family so we can follow social distancing and safety protocols.  If it is necessary for multiple family members to come, they are welcome to please wait outside while the family representative (parent/guardian) comes into the school with student(s).  If you are sick or someone in your household is sick, please do not come to the school.

Please plan to enter using your teacher's outside door.  We will have balloons and decorations outside each teacher door for photo opportunities to welcome our students back in style!  We would love for you to take advantage of this so on the First Day of School (August 19th) your child(ren) can enter the school without family member(s) to help with safety and social distancing.

Barnett Fall 2020 Schedule

Submitted by kali.brown on Tue, 07/28/2020 - 11:43

"For the fall 2020 semester, all five days of the week (M-F) will follow the traditional Monday Early Out schedule where schools dismiss 45-minutes earlier than the typical day.  A decision will be made by early December whether to continue this schedule for the remainder of the year.

  • Additional teacher time to meet the needs of students who cannot attend because of quarantine or illness.

  • Greater opportunities for schools to provide additional support to students who are struggling academically or emotionally.

  • Additional custodial time to clean and sanitize our classrooms and buildings.

  • Increased flexibility in the requirement for in-seat “instruction” time recently granted by the State Board.

"... we believe this adjusted schedule will be helpful in providing safer and more supportive environments for our teachers, students, and families."

Face Shields for Students and Faculty

We are excited to welcome students back to school on August 19th, 2020.  Barnett Elementary has purchased face shields for each student, faculty and staff member.  The face shields will stay at school to be sanitized daily.  Parents need to send their student to school wearing a face covering every day.  At school, students can choose to wear their face mask, the face shield or both.  At this time face coverings will not be worn during recess or lunch.  Time spent eating in the lunchroom will be under 15 min.  At the end of the day, students wearing face shields will change back into their face mask sent from home before exiting the building.  We are so excited to offer this additional option and are looking forward to seeing happy faces back at school!
