Bulldog Pride Assembly

On Friday, August 28th, 2015, Barnett Elementary held its first “Bulldog Pride Assembly”. Kicking off our school-wide behavior program this year of PAWS to LEAD, as well as our reading program, Mission ImPAWSible.

The students came to the assembly where a mysterious package was delivered. After opening the box, we quickly discovered that we would be looking for clues throughout the audience and would need the help of Inspectors “Ima Reader” and “Gotta Read”. The clues led them to find a leader, and, luckily for Ima and Gotta, we had a room full of leaders- our students.

The students then learned about how to PAWS (pause), and think about what they are doing and choose to be a leader. Each student received a dogtag necklace to remind them to PAWS to LEAD. The new math and reading incentive programs were explained to the students as well. For completed reading calendars, students will receive a blue bead to put on their necklace. For demonstrated improvement in math facts, students will receive a yellow bead for their necklace. Students cheered as they learned how they could be better leaders. Barnett Bulldogs are excited for the new school year and excited to PAWS to LEAD!
