Grandparents' Day at Barnett

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

Grandparents' Day with the third grade at Barnett Elementary is always a fun day for third graders and their grandparents, not to mention the parents that come to watch the program.  Not only is  it a fun day, but it helps students become more aware of the loving community around them, as they learn in social studies.  After a lunch provided by Barnett's own lunch ladies, some students took their grandparents on a tour of the school, while others sat and talked with their grandparents who had come for the special day.  Around 1pm on October 3, third graders took the stage to perform their prepared program for their grandparents, parents, and other family members.  They sang, "When Grandma Comes," "Grandma's House," "Grandma's Feather Bed," "Grandpapa," "A Grandmother Just Like You," and "Edelweiss."  Students also gave speaking parts and recited poetry.  A big thank you to Mr. Don Applegate for practicing diligently with and accompanying the third graders on "Grandma's Feather Bed" and "Edelweiss."
