This week we will be celebrating White Ribbon Week at Barnett which is a focus on Internet Safety. We will be using the Let's Get Real Program which supports healthy choices in media and technology. Your students will be coming home with a letter that talks about the Power Boosts and Focus for each day. There will also be other items that come home to support family discussions on media and technology along with the students talking in their classes each day and participating in a lunch activity during lunch recess.

Here are the Power Boosts the students will be talking about each day:

Tuesday: "I will use technology to show kindness and respect."
Wednesday: "I will give priority to real life relationships."
Thursday: "I will choose healthy activities to handle stress and boredom."
Friday: "I will choose to balance my day."
Monday(2/25): "I will remember that not everything online is real."

We are finishing off White Ribbon Week next Monday, February 25th with a special event our district is holding at Salem Hills High School. Monday, February 25th, at 7:00pm Dr. Christy Kane will use clinical experience and scientific research to explain the neurologic changes taking place in the developing brain due to the impact of electronics.
