Teacher Spotlight: 1st Grade

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

This installment of the Teacher Spotlight is on the first grade team: Mr. Jack White, Mrs. Patty Hanson, and Ms. Whitney Zylstra.  While these teachers have different personalities and life experiences, they have come to work together and become the foundational teachers for most of the students at Barnett, helping students learn to read, write, add, and subtract--skills that they will need their whole lives.

Focus on--Mr. White
Mr. White is a great teacher and very patient with his students. He is always willing to share his ideas with other teachers and is willing to listen to you when things aren't going right and offer advice. Mr. White is very organized and always willing to help his team members. He also is always concerned for his students and their well being. He is a very good teacher and his kids love him and love being in his class. He is always prepared and willing to share ideas with others. We love working with him!

Focus on--Mrs. Hanson
Mrs. Hanson is so easy to work with I love her positive attitude about teaching.  She always looks to the good in all we do.   Mrs. Hanson is very fun to work with. She cares for her students and is always trying new ideas for making learning fun. She is willing to help others and try new ideas. She is a fun teacher. She is willing to help others. It is fun to work with her each day.

Focus on--Ms. Zylstra
Ms. Zylstra is very organized and excellent at class management. Her students are always working quietly. The thing we appreciate about her the most is that she is good to take a task and get it done so that the whole grade level benefits and all the first graders get the best learning possible.

All of Barnett, including the parents, appreciate all of our first grade teachers and the time and effort they put into helping their students every day!
