Mrs. Lloyd's Class Learns Sign Language

Submitted by jaimie.standish on

Mrs. Lloyd's class had a very special visitor! Mckenzie Madsen came to our class and taught us some sign language! We have been studying sign language and doing our best to learn together but it was exciting to have an expert come teach us lots of new signs! We learned greetings, feelings, adjectives, animals and more! We even learned how to sign, "You are my sunshine" together. We can't wait to learn more!
In the pictures students are signing, Star Wars, I feel happy, hello, and dog!

Submitted by jaimie.standish on

Mrs. Standish's class refreshed their measurement skills on Thursday, March 10th by creating maps for each other on the playground. Student's were given a starting, ruler, yardstick, paper, and pencil. They then had to create a map using measurements for their peers to figure out where the final location was. It was a great way to kick off our measurement unit!

Submitted by jaimie.standish on

Our first graders had such a blast at the Museum of Natural Curiosity on Friday! They enjoyed using all of their five senses to observe and explore the different exhibits. They solved puzzles, played games, explored different types of weather, participated in science experiments, and much more! We never wanted to leave!

Dr. Suess Family Night

Submitted by angela.stoddard on

Monday night Barnett Elementary turned into Whoville and students, families, teachers, and the communities came together to celebrate Dr. Suess in style! The families enjoyed a yummy dinner followed by participating in reading activities, games, and PTA events. The PTA held a Book Basket Auction and thanks to lots of support from our parents and community were able to raise lots of money for our school. Another exciting part of the evening was sending every child home with their very own book that night.
