Twelve on 12/12/12

Adam Call, a sixth grader, turned twelve on 12/12/2012.  As he told the Daily Herald, 12 has always been one of his favorite numbers and turning twelve in the date of 12/12/12 was really special and fun.  Knowing how important this birthday was for their song, Mr. and Mrs. Call came to the school just before noon when Adam was at lunch to surprise him and have the whole lunchroom sing happy birthday to him when it was noon--turning 12 on 12/12/12 at 12:00.  It was a fun surprise for Adam.

Barnett’s 6th grade attended their annual trip to Brigham Young University’s production “Christmas Around the World.” Part of the 6th grade curriculum is to learn about different countries around the world where each student has to research a country, write a research report and present about their country either through art/drama, PowerPoint or Poster form. This field trip to BYU was a culminating activity for students to see different dancing and cultures from around the world.

First Grade Indian Day

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

The first graders enjoyed Indian Day on November 16, 2012. We learned that there were many different tribes of American Indians and each tribe spoke their own language which made it hard for the tribes to communicate with each other. So in order to understand and communicate with each other, they used sign language and picture writing. Our 1st graders were able to create their own picture writing just like the Indians.
