Underground Railroad in the Fifth-grade

On Tuesday, February 7, 2012, the students in Mrs. Knudsen's fifth grade class went back in time to participate in the Underground Railroad. They were each assigned a part in the role-play. All of the roles were based on real people who actually helped or hindered slaves on the Underground Railroad.

100 Days of First Grade

On January 31, the first graders at Barnett Elementary celebrated the 100th Day of School. Throughout the day they were able to do a lot of fun activities to celebrate. One of the activities they did was put together 100 piece puzzles. The students had so much fun celebrating this fun day!

Sixth-Grade Fear Factor

Think you have what it takes to face your fears? Mrs. Spencer's, Ms. Leach's, and Mrs. Laudato's sixth graders do!!! January's incentive activity for Barnett sixth graders was the opportunity to participate in Fear Factor!  Each class sent six volunteers to compete for the coveted Fear Factor Championship.  Participants were challenged to hold ice in their hand, eat dried squid, & drink tomato juice with herring chunks, just to name a few. Do you think you could do it?

Sixth-Grade Service to the Christmas Box House

Barnett’s 6th grade classes have participated in a program called N.O.V.A. over the last few months, which teaches principles of bettering your life through learning life skills and building an awareness against alcohol and drugs. As part of the requirements for their N.O.V.A.

First Grade Fun Friday

The first grade students at Barnett Elementary get to participate in a Fun Friday activity if they finish all of their centers during the week. This last week the students who attended Fun Friday got to do a fun art project. The students loved doing this art project as a reward for working so hard during the week on their centers.
