Judy Catlett is awarded the Crystal Apple Award

On Monday, January 11, 2010, the Crystal Apple Award was presented to Judy Catlett of Barnett Elementary. The Crystal Apple Award is given to teachers that show devotion to students and outstanding performance in the classroom and is awarded by nomination from the school faculty. Mrs. Catlett is adored by her students and loved by the Barnett faculty. She has been teaching at Barnett for twenty-five years and has her masters in Math. Positivity is her greatest strength whether it be with students, parents, or faculty members and she always makes everyone feel important and special.

Barnett Elementary Choir

Barnett Elementary School Choir keeps the music alive under the direction of Christine Muniz. They have been very busy singing at assemblies and concerts for adoring audiences.Their next performance will be at a Utah Flash game; the choir has been specially invited to sing during half time which is a great honor. Barnett is proud of their talented students and they feel lucky to have such a devoted director.

Fourth Grade and Utah Symphony

Barnett fourth-graders experience fine art with the Utah Symphony. Each year the Nebo School District arranges a themed assembly with the Utah Symphony. This year's theme was "Marches." The students dressed in their "Sunday Best" and learned rhythm and meter while enjoying the marches from many countries and movies.

Clark Planetarium

Barnett sixth-graders get hands-on science experience with Clark Planetarium. An assembly was arranged with a representative of the planetarium where the students got to touch a meteorite, learn about static electricity and even ignite a hydrogen-filled balloon. This is likely to be a highlight in the sixth-graders' science education.

Xavier the Alien visits barnett first grade

Teachers at Barnett Elementary keep learning fun. Miss Ledingham's first grade class had a special visitor, Xaiver the Alien from the planet Zurk, come to their classroom to learn to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The class taught him the step-by-step instructions on how to make the sandwich and learned about sequencing in the process.
