Bulldog Pride Assembly

Submitted by jaimie.standish on

On Friday, August 28th, 2015, Barnett Elementary held its first “Bulldog Pride Assembly”. Kicking off our school-wide behavior program this year of PAWS to LEAD, as well as our reading program, Mission ImPAWSible.

The students came to the assembly where a mysterious package was delivered. After opening the box, we quickly discovered that we would be looking for clues throughout the audience and would need the help of Inspectors “Ima Reader” and “Gotta Read”. The clues led them to find a leader, and, luckily for Ima and Gotta, we had a room full of leaders- our students.

5th Grade Wax Museum

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

Every year the fifth graders at Barnett Elementary are able to research an important person in United States history, create a speech, come up with a creative costume, and present themselves as that person during a wax museum presentation.  The students this year did an amazing job coming up with creative costumes to try to imitate the person they were representing.  Not only did they look great, but the students put a lot of time into researching their person and competently gave information as about 500 people filed through the lunch room on the afternoon of May 26, 2015.&

Wild About Reading--Last Assembly

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

For the last reading assembly of the year, prizes were given out to students for their reading. Students were randomly selected based off of the tickets they turned in for reading and also for math fact completion.  Several other awards were presented: Winners from the 3rd-6th grade track meets, 3rd grade spelling bee winners, and perfect attendance award winners.  It was a fun assembly and a great way to celebrate all of the good reading that occurred at Barnett, and at home, this last year.

Hoe Down at Barnett!

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

Coming back from Spring Break, all the students and teachers in the school got to take part in a Hoe Down. The assembly was divided into different grade timeslots, with some students learning how to square dance, others doing the chicken dance, or other line dances.  The students really enjoyed this fun, educational assembly.
