Each month, some teachers or other staff at Barnett will be highlighted. This month, Mrs. Comte, Mrs. Kunz, and Mrs. Evans shared some of their thoughts about the other kindergarten teachers that they get to work wtih at Barnett.
Focus on--Mrs. Comte (Kindergarten)
This year we had the company, US Synthetic, come do various service projects for Barnett Elementary on September 11th, 2014. They refinished the outside picnic tables, bought new soccer goal nets and basketball nets, and did a fun reading and problem solving activity with every class. They also had a group of people who repainted the games on the blacktops by the playgrounds.

Mark your calendars... Barnett School Registration is July 31st from 8:00-4:00. Come and register your children for the new school year, find out who their teacher is, and sign up for PTA and other school activities.

Several students from Barnett Elementary 6th grade classes were among the nearly 150,000 students worldwide to participate this year in the Math Olympiad program. They participated in a series of five monthly contests of five problems each, from November to March, and weekly practice sessions under the direction of Don Applegate. He worked with students in learning strategies to solve unusual and difficult problems by thinking creatively. Congratulations for a job well done!
Just a reminder about the Fun Run tomorrow morning! Students will not be allowed to call for their waiver slips in the morning so please make sure to have them bring them in the morning, if they haven't brought them to school yet. If you need another copy, just print off page 5 from the May 2014 Bulldog Barker (see attachments).
Thursday, May 15, 2014 was the annual 3rd grade Spelling Bee at Barnett Elementary. Three contestants from each of the third grade classes participated in the Bee. The participants did a fantastic job of spelling the words supplied to them by the proctor, Ms. Robyn Curtis. Unfortunately, there could only be one winner and Lexie Christiansen took the day at this Bee. The winning word was "squirrel." Wonderful job to all the Spelling Bee spellers!
