Spring Choir Assembly

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

On April 28, 2014, the Barnett Choir sang some of the songs from their Spring Concert. Their songs were focused around popular songs from the radio or from movies, for example, "When Will My Life Begin" from Tangled, "Roar" by Prism, "That's How You Know" from Enchanted, "What Does the Fox Say?", and "Let it Go" from Frozen.  They did a fantastic job singing and being led by their choir director, Mrs. Christine Muniz.

Minute to Win It

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

Students in both the upper and lower grades were able to participate in Minute to Win It games as a reward for turning in their reading calendars. Several students who had turned in their reading calendar were randomly selected from each class and grade to take part in the fun games.  A teacher was also randomly selected to compete against the students.  Some of the fun games that were played involved knocking bottles down with a pantyhose headcovering, making cup pyramids and taking them down quickest, and trying to get an Oreo from the forehead into the mouth.

Third Grade Field Trip to the Tulip Festival

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

On the field trip to Thanksgiving Point for the Tulip Festival, the third graders had a lot of fun! The first thing we saw were waterfalls. We walked and walked and walked until we saw a secret garden. There were a lot of flowers (and a lot of walking!). The secret garden and Italian gardens were favorites. Students were also able to feed fish and some geese--some even saw geese nesting! Seth Hancock said, "My favorite part was the waterfalls and I loved the big hill!" Jared Peterson remarked, "My favorite garden was the Italian garden.

200 Club Winners for March

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

Barnett Elementary Students have been working hard to earn Brag Notes. When a student earns a brag note their name is added to the Principal’s 200 Club Board. Brag notes can be earned by making good choices, working hard in school, and being a good friend or helper just to name a few things. Once the board is full of student names we have a drawing for books and prizes. We are filling up our Principal’s 200 Club Board faster than ever! Thanks for making so many good choices Barnett Bulldogs! Here are some of our recent winners.

Barnett Science Fair

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

Have you ever wondered how something worked? Can you really tell the difference between beef and elk steak? What air pressure makes a soccer ball kick the furthest? All of these questions and more were answered by the problem solving, scientific thinking students at Barnett Elementary this last week. All grade levels were encouraged to participate with sixth grade making it a required assignment. The students had fun answering questions that they had through the scientific process.
