Annual Gobble Off

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

Every year students get to compete for the best turkey gobble in the school.  To prepare, each class did a competition to decide on a winner from each class. Then each of those winners got to compete with the rest of the student winners in the school.  The judges for this year's Gobble Off were Mr. Don Applegate and Mrs. Shalynn Murdoch.  After narrowing down the 20 or so candidates to five gobblers, Justin Reynaud from Ms. Robyn Curtis's class won the all-school Gobble Off!  Justin won a turkey to take home; the other contestants took home a large candy bar.

Parents & Pastries

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

The second to last week in November was an exciting week! Not only did SEPs take place that week and a week-long book fair, but Tuesday was the day of Parents and Pastries! The halls of the school echoed with the noise of parents and students eating their donuts, buying books, and reading in the hallway.  It is a wonderful tradition that we're grateful we were able to continue this year thanks to the PTA!

Principal's 200 Club for November

Submitted by angela.stoddard on

Students at Barnett Elementary have been working hard to earn Brag Notes. When a student earns a brag note their name is added to the Principal’s 200 Club Board. Brag notes can be earned by making good choices, working hard in school, and being a good friend or helper just to name a few things. Once the board is full of student names we have a drawing for books and prizes. Here are the students who won for November.  Thanks for making so many good choices Barnett Bulldogs!

Egyptian Day

Barnett’s 6th Grade Gift of the Nile Egyptian Day activities. Each year students create Egyptian collars of a specific color to represent their class during their rotations. This year alongside the collars they created Egyptian cartouches, necklaces that have their initials carved in clay using hieroglyphics, to represent each person. Students rotated to each of the 6th mummies. In Mrs. Laudato’s rotation they mummified apples in which they are anxiously waiting to open at the end of the month. In Mrs.

Red Barn Field Trip

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

We went to the Red Barn. We learned about how apples grow. We got to play on the slides, ride the pedal cars, go through the maze, dig in the sand with hand powered bulldozers, ride the hay wagon, and eat a donut!

Fall Carnival

Submitted by beth.knudsen on

September was a blast for our new Barnett Student Council. The PTA was kind enough to let the Student Council run a booth of balloon animals at our School's Fall Carnival. This helped raise money for the Student Council Leadership Conference in October. The day of the carnival the Student Council learned how to make animal balloons. They learned and made all sorts of twisted balloons such as swords, flowers, giraffes, mice, hats and crowns. Before we knew it all the balloons were gone.

The Payson Fire Department held their Fire Prevention Week coloring contest this month and the winners from Barnett are: Mackenzie Christensen, Shanae Ramirez, Daniela Chavez, Madison Hill, Mark Peterson, and Sarah Thomson. These students got to take a ride on a fire truck to the fire station where they enjoyed a yummy lunch with our city firefighters. We want to thank the Payson Fire Department for helping our students learn about fire safety in a fun way!
