Fire Prevention Week Coloring Contest Winners

Submitted by angela.stoddard on

Several students were awarded a trip on a fire truck and some lunch made by the Payson Fire Department for being great artists. During Fire Prevention Week, one of the activities was a coloring contest Mrs. Ellsworth, the art specialist, had grades 1-6 participate in. Students turned in a coloring sheet and the fire department picked the best one from each grade. Those students were then able to ride on a fire truck to the fire station where they enjoyed a BBQ with the firefighters. Congratulations students on being wonderful artists and great examples for Barnett!

October Principal's 200 Club

Submitted by angela.stoddard on

Students at Barnett Elementary have been working hard this month to earn Brag Notes. When a student earns a brag note their name is added to the Principal's 200 Club Board. Brag notes can be earned by making good choices, working hard in school, and being a good friend or helper just to name a few things. Once our board is full of student names we have a drawing for books and prizes. We were able to fill up the Principal's 200 Board twice the month of October! Here are the winners! Thaks for making so many good choices Barnett Bulldogs!

Fourth grade students at Barnett Elementary School attended the Utah State Fair Friday, September 9. They had the opportunity to see Utah livestock and produce. They were entertained by a wandering magician. Students learned about animals and plants native to the state. They also participated in a State Fair Scavenger Hunt to locate the Utah butter sculpture and other unusual exhibits. Students enjoyed the seal tricks, the chickens and rooster that imitated student actions. One Student, Zowee Hanks, showed her lamb at the Utah County and the Utah State Fair.

Teachers at Barnett Elementary make Social Studies come alive. Barnett 6th-Grade celebrated the end of their Egyptian studies with an Egyptian Mummy Day.  Students learned how to make Egyptian-style art and writing and made and wore costumes and cartouches.  They also prepared and wrapped dolls to look like mummies and mummified hot dogs and apples and stored them away to do experiments with later.
