The Barnett Elementary PTA had huge success with their annual Fall Carnival. Families came to play carnival games, eat great food, get their faces painted, rock climb and play on blow-up toys. Funds from this activity go toward helping the school with activities, assemblies, technology, equipment and much more. Thank you, Barnett PTA, for setting up such a great fund raiser to help support our school!

Trihectohexacontagon

Over the last three weeks Alexi Olson, Taisha Howard, Danielle Pugh, Miranda Tarter, Brookelyn Smith, and Danielle Downey of Barnett elementary folded and put together a trihectohexacontagon.  A trihectohexacontagon uses 360 pieces of multicolored paper, and is about the size of a beach ball.   Each piece of the trihectohexacontagon is carefully folded and added into the project.  The girls spent about 30 minutes a day over the course of the three weeks to complete the project.  This is like making your own huge Rubik’s Cube.

Principal Ryan Pitcher decided to ask him to speak to the students of Barnett after a moving presentation to Nebo Educators. His message to the students was to always be a friend and go out of your way to help others. The students loved his presentation and showed him their appreciation with participation and thunderous applause.

Students at Barnett Elementary are rewarded for good behavior. The February good behavior incentive was an inspiring assembly by New York Giants linebacker, and former BYU football star, Bryan Kehl. His message was to "hit it hard" and always give everything you've got. Students were excited to get a photo of Bryan and some were lucky enough to get his autograph.

6th Grade Clark Planetarium

Barnett 6th Grade receives a "one-of-a-kind" field trip grant to educators from Target. In October, Mrs. Leach submitted an application to be a recipient of this grant and in January was informed that they were awarded the funds, which in turn allows all the 6th grade classes at Barnett to go to the Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake City.

The students experienced the Foucault Pendulum, looked at moonscapes, touched meteors, and observed seasons and planets in the Hansen Dome Theatre. It was a whole day of exciting fun and learning!
