Barnett’s 6th grade attended their annual trip to Brigham Young University’s production “Christmas Around the World.” Part of the 6th grade curriculum is to learn about different countries around the world where each student has to research a country, write a research report and present about their country either through art/drama, PowerPoint or Poster form. This field trip to BYU was a culminating activity for students to see different dancing and cultures from around the world. Several of the students commented on how fun and entertaining it was to see their country perform their dances from such places as India, Russia, the Philippines and many other countries of the world. They were then able to attend BYU’s Museum of People and Cultures and learn more about the Ancient Mayan culture in their exclusive exhibit. What a wonderful opportunity these students have to learn about different cultures of the world right in their backyards.
