Our very own Melissa Partridge, better known as Grandma Melissa, was awarded for 10 years of service today at the Foster Grandparent Program Volunteer Recognition. During the program, foster grandparents in Nebo, Provo and Alpine School Districts were fed a delicious lunch, listened to Northridge Elementary School Choir sing, and heard messages of appreciation from guest speakers, including our own Nebo Superintendent, Rick Nielsen. Sarah Sumsion was able to attend as Grandma Melissa's special guest.

Barnett has been lucky to have Grandma Melissa working with students on letters, sounds, numbers, colors, reading, social skills, playground manners, and safety. She helps the secretaries in the office and with students in the halls. She helps prepare materials for classes and is willing to do anything and everything to help students at Barnett. We love Grandma Melissa!

There were several other foster grandmas in attendance serving right here in Payson Schools including: Earline Holley, Velva Merrell and Linette Peck - each having served for 20 years or more!  Payson Mayor Bill Wright also attended to support these wonderful volunteers. Each received a gift bag, certificate, and plaque recognizing their faithful volunteer work to Payson students.

Special thanks to AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program sponsored by Utah County Heart of Utah and Utah County Senior Services.
