Barnett Elementary showed respect on Veteran's Day by hosting an assembly for the whole student body. It was open to the public and featured the musical talents of the Barnett school choir. It was heart warming to hear classic, patriotic songs like, "My Country, ‘Tis of Thee," sung by over a hundred students. The assembly became even more moving when the faculty showed a Veteran's Day tribute video. When some of the students were asked after the presentation how they felt, several became teary-eyed when relaying some of the specific moments that stood out to them. One particular image of several coffins covered by an American flag really helped many of the children connect to the realities of war. The Barnett community is grateful for the many veterans who have sacrificed much in our behalf and were pleased to honor those sacrifices.
