Fifth-grade's Sedimentary Sandwiches

Submitted by sara.stout on

The fifth-grade at Barnett School has been very busy studying the intricate layers of the Earth's Crust. To simulate this billion year geological process in a delicious and fun way, students studied the layering through 'P.B. & Jelly-ology.' Students were given three types of bread, crunchy peanut butter, jelly, honey, Nutella spread, and gummy worms acting as fossils to help them conceptualize the various layers of Earth. As Mrs. Buys told a story of the laying down or depositing of these sediments, students laid down the type of spread or layers to form their creation.
