This month's teacher spotlight is on the third grade team. The three third grade teachers are Ms. Robyn Curtis, Mr. Austin Cope, and Mrs. Beth Knudsen.

Focus On--Ms. Curtis

Ms. Curtis is a creative and conscientious teacher who finds engaging ways to help her students learn.  Her art projects and lessons on artists are amazing!  When I see the projects her class does, I wish I was in her class!  She is a great team member who brings practical experience to the table.  Ms. Curtis always has helpful ideas about how to teach a certain idea and is willing to try new things.  Ms. Curtis is a fantastic team member.  She is easy to get along with, full of fun creative ideas, and always willing to help.

Focus On--Mr. Cope

Mr. Cope is such a great team member, he is always fun to work with, and works really hard. He cares about his students and makes learning fun for them. Mr. Cope has a great sense of humor and an ability to cheer up those around him. He is always looking for ways to improve the school.  Mr. Cope is not only a fun person and teacher, but he is a very effective teacher.  He motivates his students to work hard and to be awesome!  He brings his interests into his class in a way that helps his students connect with him and want to do their best to make him proud. He is great at problem-solving and is a wonderful team leader.  He doesn't stress about the unimportant things which makes him a great team member.

Focus On--Mrs. Knudsen

Mrs. Knudsen is a wonderful person to work with. She always works hard and has great ideas of how to get things done well. She is very easy going and fun to work with. Mrs. Knudsen is an asset to the 3rd grade team because she makes sure that things are planned and followed through. Mrs. Knudsen is a joy to work with.  She is always prepared, aware of what's on the calendar. Beth is easy to work with, and always pleasant.

All of the third grade teachers quickly remark about how much they love being on the third grade team.  Two of the teachers stated, "We get along so well!"  Ms. Curtis added, "We each have strengths that help the others, and it is easy and comfortable to learn from each other. We can have fun together as well as get great things done!" As a result, the third grade team is able to plan effectively to help the third graders of Barnett Elementary!

Students at Barnett Elementary have been working hard this month to earn Brag Notes. When a student earns a brag note their name is added to the Principal’s 200 Club Board. Brag notes can be earned by making good choices, working hard in school, and being a good friend or helper just to name a few things. Once the board is full of student names we have a drawing for books and prizes. Here are our winners for the month of December. Thanks for making so many good choices Barnett Bulldogs!

Barnett Choir Events

This last week, Barnett Elementary was favored with two special performances by the Barnett Choir.  On Monday, the choir sang a selection of the songs they have been working on the past few months. Some of the songs they sang were: "I Will Fly," "In Summer," "When Christmas Comes to Town," "Love is an Open Door," and "Believe."  The student body was entertained by the singers and it helped start this last holiday week in the right spirit.  Then, last night, December 18, 2014, the Barnett Choir performed their concert for parents, neighbors, and other community members.  They did a fantastic job! A big thank you to Mrs. Christine Muniz for being their choir director and helping them learn these songs!
