Families Teaching Families

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on

We had a fantastic Family Night on September 23. Our Title I Coordinator shared how our Title I funds are spent and used to help support student learning and parent engagement. We also heard from our 1st-3rd graders as they sang a new leadership song. Well done kids! Two of our 6th grade students, Katelyn Caldwell and Taylor Humphries, spoke about settling goals both at school and at home. Our principal also spoke to kickoff our night of learning and sharing.

Day of Caring

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on
Barnett Bulldogs welcomed some amazing volunteers from BYU and from the Utah County Government Offices on United Way's Day of Caring. Many students from BYU came to make our fields look nice by trimming trees, filling in holes in the grass, and brought us new soccer goal nets. They also gave our playground blacktop games a fresh new coat of paint making them bright and ready for kids to play on. The Utah County Government Volunteers spent the day in classrooms teaching all our students about financial literacy with the Junior Achievement in a Day program.

It's Our WIG Kickoff

Submitted by sarah.sumsion on

Teachers & students kicked off our yearly WIGs (Wildly Important Goals) with a fun skit & plenty of wig-wearing. We continue to focus on reading because it is so very important! We will also be adding a goal of having students earn 5000 brag notes or more in a year's time.

Students went to boot camp today to learn the rules, procedures and expectations for when they are in the lunch room, before and after school, walking in the halls, using the restrooms, going to the office, if and when to report bullying and more! These 3rd grade cadets wore their camo, as well as many other students and all the teachers, to support this fun event.
