It's White Ribbon Week at Barnett!

Submitted by angela.stoddard on

This week we will be celebrating White Ribbon Week at Barnett which is a focus on Internet Safety. We will be using the Let's Get Real Program which supports healthy choices in media and technology. Your students will be coming home with a letter that talks about the Power Boosts and Focus for each day. There will also be other items that come home to support family discussions on media and technology along with the students talking in their classes each day and participating in a lunch activity during lunch recess.

Principals 200 Board

Submitted by dayna.kirgan on

Outside of our office, there is a whiteboard hanging with 200 places on the board. Leaders at Barnett Elementary that get a brag note from a teacher, get to pick a number, and their name is written on the board in that place. Once the board is all filled up, Mrs. Stoddard chooses 3 lucky winners. The first place winner's row also wins! We have filled this board up multiple times this year. It sure is easy to do when we have a school full of great, amazing leaders. Congratulations to our Principals 200 Board winners. We will be starting fresh on Monday.

Bulldog Pride 2019

Submitted by dayna.kirgan on

It was the first Bulldog Pride Assembly in the new year. We have had such a great January. It really has just flown by. This month our leaders had come back from a holiday break and got right back into the routine of school. We have had many great accomplishments this month: the school spelling bee, yellow pack's party, and moving closer and closer to our school WIG of moving up reading levels. Our top dogs and leaders of the month this month really shined! Congrats to our alpha dog winners, Mr. Cope and Mrs. Ross! You two are amazing and we are so lucky to have you here at Barnett.

Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Sheets

Submitted by dayna.kirgan on

Say hello to Ms. Sheets! Ms. Sheets teaches the 4th grade. She has been teaching now for 3 years. Ms. Sheets wanted to become a teacher so that she could watch students grow and progress. Her favorite thing about teaching at Barnett Elementary is the feeling of family. She feels like she belongs and that everyone genuinely cares about her. If she wasn't a teacher she would probably be a physical therapist. She likes to read books in her spare time. Her favorite book is Emeralds and Espionage. We are so lucky to have Ms. Sheets at our school! She is truly amazing.

Getting smart with Netsmartz

Submitted by dayna.kirgan on

Barnett Bulldogs received a great lesson on Internet safety. The presenter, Cole, spoke to students about many important things reguarding technology and the internet. He spoke on keeping personal information private. Never share your information with someone you don’t know. He also spoke about the truths of what you post online, stays online.  Another important point Barnett student’s learned was that we need to make the Internet a happier place. Cyberbullying happens quite frequently, but we can spark a change in this and be good citizens online.

Barnett's Science Fair

Submitted by dayna.kirgan on

Everyone likes a good science fair, but when you are at Barnett Elementary, you will get the BEST science fair! This is such a great opportunity for students to show themselves as scientists and represent themselves in that way. We had many great experiments, and quite a few participants. It is so fun to see kids dive deeper in their learning and take the initiative to do science at home. We would like to recognize our science fair winners.
