January is the month for setting goals. But how many times do we actually keep them? Here at Barnett we set our goals in August and work on them the entire school year. I thought it would be great if I taught you how we make and keep our goals a focus all year long. We call our goals WIGs. WIG stands for Wildly Important Goal. One of our WIGs this year is that Barnett Students will make a years growth in reading. Staying focused on our goals is important. Sometimes it is easy to lose focus in the whirlwind of life. Tracking your goal will help it stay fresh in your mind.

December can be a very hard months for students and teachers to stay focused on school and the 7 habits. With Winter break coming and the excitement of the holidays, sometimes it is hard to stay focused. But not for these Barnett Students and teachers. They were recognized and chosen as top dogs, leaders of the month and alpha dog winners! It is so deserved for getting through such an exciting month. GO BULLDOGS!
Barnett Students and Teachers had a great time celebrating learning and the holidays the last week of school with a fun way to dress up each day of the week. We saw lots of holiday colors, holiday sweaters, costumes, and festive feet this week! It was super fun, even Buddy the Bulldog joined us in his festive outfit. Enjoy some Christmas Spirit Week pictures!
Students at Barnett Elementary have been working hard this month to earn Brag Notes. When a student earns a brag note their name is added to the Principal’s 200 Club Board. Brag notes can be earned by living the 7 Habits, working hard in school, and being a good example of a leader just to name a few things. Once the board is full of student names we have a drawing for books and prizes. Here are our winners for the month of December. Thanks for making so many good choices Barnett Bulldogs!
Barnett Elementary would like to thank America First Credit Union-Payson Branch, for purchasing 100 pairs of shoes for students at Barnett. It was a great day when the recipients of the shoes all gathered together and opened their presents at the same time to discover a brand new pair of awesome shoes! Thank you again to America First Credit Union for taking care of our students!
Our teachers came together in teams to make gingerbread displays again this year. The rules were simple, your entry could not already be put together and you had one hour to do it all. The creations were displayed in the school and then given away to students to take home and decorate their homes with. This is a fun tradition of working together, synergizing, and having fun. ENJOY THE PICTURES!
The Barnett Choir and Orchestra groups have been working hard this year to get ready for the Winter Program and all the hard work paid off! These music groups peformed for parents and the community some favorite Christmas songs and delighted the crowd with solos on the violin and piano. It was a wonderful winter evening!
